My name is Gina Reed. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters Degree in Social Worker and several years of experience in behavioral/mental health. My goal is to be there for you as you need.
Making the decision to begin therapy is a difficult choice. Deciding on a therapist is even more difficult. The relationship between a therapist and a client is very important. I am happy to consult with you before you commit to a therapist, to ensure we are a good fit. I am here to support you and your goals.
My focus in treatment is with adults 50 years and older, with a specialty in older adults (65+). I treat anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, trauma, bipolar disorder, grief, aging, (Complex) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD-adults), personality disorders and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). (See Treatment Services for more details)
I use a psychodynamic approach, which means using many different modalities. Some of these include EMDR , CBT , DBT , EFT , IFS among a few. Please see the Treatment Services Tab for more details on these as well as others I use.
Education
I graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Psychology and Sociology (with a concentration in Social Work). I graduated from Wayne State University with a Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW). I obtained my School Social Work Certificate from University of Michigan. I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since the year 2000. I have become certified in many modalities and subjects over the years and stay up to date via ongoing training in areas such as anxiety, depression, trauma, geriatric’s/dementia, personality disorders, grief, EMDR, and Cognitive Behavioral Treatment.
Experience
I have enjoyed developing my skills in various areas over the years which include: inpatient psychiatry, hospital social work, hospice, residential and outpatient substance use (including Medication Assisted Treatment), assisted and skilled nursing facilities, outpatient mental health, developmentally disabled, traumatic brain injury, 5150 evaluation and assessment and the Director of Behavioral Health for a community health center. I have served on various committees focused on ethics, end of life and how to improve mental health services. I have been involved in various agencies within my county to help our community. I bring honesty and humor to sessions and will always be educating you (see my social media - no made-up quotes there). Being a therapist has been one of my greatest enjoyments which has led me to my own private practice where I can use my skills to support you.
